WILLMAR, Min. - The Iowa Central wrestling team advanced nine wrestlers to the NJCAA?national championships.
The Tritons finished fifth in the team standings. Ellsworth was the team champion and Iowa Western was the runner-up.
"We're happy we got most of our guys through,'' said Iowa Central head coach Luke Moffitt.
Devin Geoghegen was the lone champion for the Tritons, winning the 157-pound title.
"Devin continued his streak of never losing to a junior college kid,'' Moffitt said. "He wrestled tough all day.''
Tristan Bundy (125) and Dillon Geoghegen?(165) both finished third.
Eagle Grove graduate Cody Harrison (184) advanced with a fourth place showing.
"Cody has come on late this year,'' Moffitt said. "He stepped up big getting to nationals.''
Brandon Bradney (197) was also fourth.
Stephen Mincey?(141) and Christopher Ballard (285) also moved on with fifth place showings.
Seth Stender (133) and Kenan Jackson (174) advanced as wild cards.
The national tournament will be held in Des Moines on Saturday, Feb. 23.
