CLARION - The 22nd annual Wright County WinterFest will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at Lake Cornelia park, located between Clarion and Belmond.
A variety of free activities have been planned to accommodate cold or warm weather.
The Pleasant Progressors 4-H club will provide lunch in the enclosed shelter. Also in the shelter, at 11:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. a local librarian will present story time.
Kites are usually flown from the surface of the lake to avoid power lines and trees or from an open area designated for that purpose. Kites are provided that day or participants can bring their own.
There will be ice skates, snowshoes and cross-country skis available that day for those who want to try. The ice skating will take place on the lake, ice permitting, and the trail for the "shoes and skis" will begin on the north side of the shelter house.
The horse- or mule-drawn sled rides will follow a trail through the prairie area north of the lake, offering views of this natural habitat space.
