GOWRIE - A freight train derailed early this morning just outside Gowrie which caused a portion of Iowa Highway 175 to be closed while crews worked to clear the scene.

Union Pacific Spokesman Mark Davis said the accident happened around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The train, which was going from Emmetsburg to Eagle Pass, Texas, derailed just southwest of Gowrie.

Davis said nobody was injured in the accident.

The line will be closed until crews can repair 650 feet of track that was damaged.
