NORFOLK, Neb. - The Iowa Central women continued their brutal road trip with a 64-48 loss to NJCAA Div. I member Northeast Nebraska here Saturday.
Following a setback at No. 4 Kirkwood on Wednesday, the Tritons (12-5 overall) dropped their second straight contest to the bigger, stronger Hawks (17-2).
''They're a very talented, physical ballclub,'' Iowa Central head coach Craig Carlson said. ''Defensively, we were really strong for the second straight game. But we're struggling to put the ball in the basket. We shot 28 percent from the field and 7 of 29 from (behind the three-point line). That's not going to get the job done on the road.''
St. Edmond graduate Lydia Harvey was the lone Triton to reach double figures with 11 points.
Northeast Nebraska also enjoyed a 21-7 scoring advantage from the free throw line.
''Our kids battled,'' Carlson said. ''We made the trip to Kirkwood and now this - (the Hawks) are as good as any team we've seen.''
