COON RAPIDS - The St. Edmond wrestling team captured the team title at the Coon Rapids-Bayard dual tournament on Saturday.
The Gaels (14-6 overall) finished 4-0 on the day and have won 12 of their last 13 duals.
St. Edmond knocked off Coon Rapids-Bayard 57-18, I-35 69-6, AHST 75-6 and Pleasantville 72-6.
Seven Gael wrestlers went 4-0 on the day.
"It's been a long week and we came out a little sluggish,'' said St. Edmond head coach Tanner Utley. "We had a pretty solid day up and down the lineup.''
Ryan Szalat, fifth-ranked Kaden McClintock, third-ranked Teddie Harvey, Dillon Nelson, Caelan Burbank and top-ranked Vinnie Harvey were all undefeated on the day.
Colten Lastine, Eddie Harvey, Matt Stumpf, Chase Craven, Jimmy Averill and Jacob Salisbury were all 3-1. Nic Hindt was 2-2 for the Gaels.
"We just want to see improvements at this point and wrestling the entire match,'' Utley said. "We've traveled a lot this week and we have to rest up for our big conference tournament.''
The Gaels will compete at the North Central Conference Tournament in Webster City on Saturday.
