The Iowa Central women's basketball team put together a strong second half, overcoming a double-digit deficit to defeat North Iowa Area Wednesday night, 66-57.

After trailing for much of the contest, the Tritons outscored the Trojans 42-24 after the break, including a 27-3 run that turned a 40-36 NIACC lead into a 57-43 Iowa Central (12-3 overall, 3-1 in ICCAC) advantage.

Babaye Oja led four Tritons in double figures, scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds. Katie Dentlinger added 14 points and five rebounds, while Carly McRae and Miliakere Koyamainavure each posted 10.

"We told the girls at the half that we were still in this one," ICCC head coach Craig Carlson said. "We just didn't get our shots to fall in the first half, but we gritted it out and earned this victory."

Iowa Central shot 15-percent in the opening 20 minutes, but knocked down 11 free throws to trail by just nine. The Trojans (8-8, 1-2) made only 10 of their 30 attempts from the field, but also hit 11 free throws.

In the second half, the Tritons wore down NIACC, taking advantage of their depth. Ten different Iowa Central players scored, including 10 from Dentlinger and eight from both Oja and Koyamainavure.
