Bikes for Tykes succeeds

To the editor:

It has been an outstanding year for the third annual Bikes for Tykes program. This program is such an asset to our local communities in so many ways, from the very grateful receiving families, to the gatherings of co-workers or family members that get together to donate, to the businesses that sell the bicycles.

All the way around this program has benefited many lives. There are so many people to thank that have made Bikes for Tykes flourish, starting with (local radio stations) for coordinating and promoting this program. We believe their voice is the backbone to the overwhelming success of this project. We would also like to thank Fort Dodge Ford for allowing us to use their beautiful showroom as an area to exhibit and distribute the bicycles. Thank you also to Graham Tire, Iowa Central Community College and A+ Auto Glass for helping with storage and transporting the bicycles. But most importantly we would like to thank the hundreds of caring people that took the time to donate bicycles, helmets, chain locks or money.

It is truly amazing to see how many people are willing to give to those in need during the holiday season. What a wonderful feeling knowing that hundreds of children will wake up on Christmas morning to a brand new bike because of all of the kind-hearted people in our communities.
