Iowa State Parks will hold a guided First Day Hike at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area on New Year's Day. The hike will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the South Equestrian Campground, 3175 290th St., Lehigh.
Hikers will enjoy scenic views of woodland bluffs as well as follow a meandering creek. Hikers should bring a water bottle, binoculars and snowshoes, weather permitting. Dress for the weather. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash.
Hikers will have the option of a 1/2 mile or 1.25 mile hike. The degree of difficulty is moderate - mostly flat with four hills. For more information call the park at 543-8298.
