FARNHAMVILLE Julie Kay Hicks Benge, age 53, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 Thursday, December 27, 2012 at First United Church, Farnhamville with Pastor Kristina Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Township Cemetery, Churdan. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26 at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie.
Survivors include daughter, Jessica (Jason) Songer of Farnhamville; son, Glen (Chelsey) Worrel of Gowrie; grandchildren, Logan, Lauren, and Obin Songer; brother, Bob (Sandy) Hicks of Gowrie; and sister, Barb (Rod) Peterson of Gowrie. Preceding her in death are her parents, Lloyd and Vera (Schneider) Hicks; brother, Ed Hicks; and step-mother, Irene Hicks.
Julie Kay Hicks was born on April 21, 1959 at Jefferson, Iowa and graduated from Cedar Valley High School in 1977. Julie graduated from Cosmetology School in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Kirk Worrel in May of 1981 and later divorced but remained friends. Julie was employed as a CNA at Woodward State Hospital, Woodward. She married Ronald Benge in 2009. Julie loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
