POCAHONTAS - Dorothy M. Ollinger, age 95, of Pocahontas, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.
Funeral services are 10:30AM Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa with Fr. Paul Bormann officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, Iowa. Visitation is from 4-7PM on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Dorothy Marie Francis was born March 7, 1917, at Palmer, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Amelia "Mollie" (Ljungren) Francis. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1934. During WW I.I. Dorothy worked at an aircraft manufacturing plant in Chicago, IL. On November 20, 1945, Dorothy married Everette Ollinger at Pocahontas. The couple settled in Pocahontas where they owned and operated several business. Everette passed away in 1993.
Dorothy was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies Society. She enjoyed garage sales and spending time at the lake with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Keith (JoAnn) Ollinger of Twin Lakes; Paul (Faye) Ollinger of Ankeny; Greg (Nancy) Ollinger of Brooklyn and Doug Ollinger of Pocahontas; daughter, Sybil (Bill) Krejchi of Watertown, SD; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Harrold of Palmer. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everette; brothers, Donald and Earl Francis and sister, Evelyn Francis.
