The Rev. Aaron Lee Hudson is scheduled to preach on Sunday at the 9 a.m. service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. This will be his first service after his ordination Saturday by the Right Rev. Alan Scarfe, bishop of Iowa, at Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, in Des Moines.
Hudson, a son of St. Mark's, is completing his final year of formal theological education this spring and will be ordained a priest upon his graduation. A native of Lyon, Hudson worked in mental health and substance abuse treatment for 10 years as a board-certified psychiatric and mental health nurse and substance abuse counselor. His last job in this field was supervising Community Family Resources, a 45-bed treatment center for persons with psychiatric and substance abuse issues, as well as teaching undergraduate-level psychiatric nursing at Iowa Central College.
A reception will follow the service at St. Mark's, 1007 First Ave. S., and the public is welcome.
