Arnold "Arnie" Martin Endahl, 90 of Fort Dodge passed away on Friday, December 7th at the Tompkins Health Center in Fort Dodge following a brief illness.
Arnold was born December 26th, 1921 in Duluth, Minnesota the son of Amund and Agnes Endahl. He graduated high school in Humbolt, Iowa in 1940. He worked at Douglas Aircraft in Los Angeles, California before entering the Army in 1944 joining the 96th Infantry for the invasion of Okinawa. After the war he attended college in Lake Delhi, New York learning his trade as a carpenter and general contractor. He returned to Fort Dodge taking over the general contractor business, A.M. Endahl and Son, from his father. He was united in marriage to Diane (Blenner) Endahl in 1958 in Holstein, Iowa and raised their family in Fort Dodge. Arnold was always active singing with the Sons of Norway with his father, St Olaf Lutheran church choir and the Fort Dodge Civic Glee Club.
Arnold is survived by his three children Charlene (John) Adams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and their four children (Stephanie, Matthew, Carrie and Sara); Thomas (Chrissie) Endahl of Shelbyville, Indiana and their three children (Vanessa, Kelsey and Jessica); Eric (Jennifer) Endahl of Iowa City, Iowa and their four children (Ellen Kealey, Emma Kealey, Andrew and Jack); and sister Florence Sorlein of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane; his parents; and sister Solvay.
A celebration of life and burial will be held at a future date.
