WAUKEE - The Fort Dodge wrestling team found tough sledding on the road Thursday night, falling to both Waukee and Johnston in a triangular meet.

Despite finishing deadlocked with the Warriors at 30-30, the Dodgers (1-2 overall) lost the tie-breaker on the eighth criteria of first points scored. FDSH then suffered a 36-33 setback to the Dragons.

"We weren't prepared to wrestle at all and made a lot of mistakes, which was pretty disappointing from last week (Fort Dodge opened its season with a 55-21 dual victory over Urbandale)," said Dodger head coach Bobby Thompson. "We were expecting to get two solid (wins last evening), but our technique was not very sound at all. We have to get a lot tougher because our schedule gets rough from here on out."

Jonah Egli (138), Matt Osborne (145), fifth-ranked (Class 3A) Duke Egli (170), Sam Cook (182), No. 10 Riley Prescott (195) and Kyle Johnson (285) all earned two victories for the Dodgers, while Kole Kampen (152) and Cole Detmering (113) each posted one win.

Johnson contributed a pair of pins. Duke Egli, Jonah Egli, Kampen and Osborne recorded one fall apiece.

"Kyle Johnson really stepped up for us, but most of our other veterans had to just hang on (for wins)," Thompson said. "You have to go for the kill when dominating, and our guys didn't have any sense of urgency.
