Otho - Dean Scheideman, 64, of Otho, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge from pancreatic cancer. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Iowa National Guard Military Honors and the VFW Post #1856. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Dean Louis Scheideman, the son of Marvin and Eleanor (McCarville) Scheideman, was born on September 12, 1948 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1966 and later from Iowa Central Community College. Dean served in the U.S. Army from 1969 1971. On August 16, 1970 Dean was united in marriage to Mardella Beckley in Manson. The couple made their home in Otho and Dean was employed with Frontier Communications for 41 years. He loved being with his family and raising his calves and cows. Dean was a lifelong active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the CWA Local 71.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Mardella of Otho; his children, Jennifer Dubbin and Marsha (Cory) Archer, all of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Abby, Ganon and Skye Archer and Cole and MaKenzie Dubbin; two sisters, Judy (Butch) Benton of Coalville and Jane (Mike) Williamson of Fort Dodge. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gene.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards the St. Paul's Building Fund.
