BOONE - The Fort Dodge boys swim team placed fifth at the Boone Invitational here Saturday.
The Dodgers did not win an individual event, but had several top-three finishes in the all-relay meet.
Waukee was the event champion, followed by Boone, Carroll, Marshalltown, FDSH and Southeast Polk.
The 100 breaststroke tandem of sophomore Aaron Brandt and freshman Nicholas Sanford placed second (2:29.12). Fort Dodge added a number of bronze medals, including the 100 butterfly (senior Cal Brandt and sophomore Rob Leigh in 1:59.63), the 200 freestyle relay (Leigh, Brandt, senior Austin Sanford and junior Josh Lee in 1:36.94) and the 100 backstroke (Brandt and Lee in 2:01.59).
''Cal Brandt and Rob Leigh looked solid,'' FDSH head coach Joel Greathouse said. ''Aaron and Nick did a nice job in the 100 breast given how inexperienced they are at this point.
''Our medley relay dropped a full second, and Josh Lee did well given he wasn't swimming in his main events.''
The Dodgers return to action on Tuesday at home against Des Moines East. Action starts at 6 p.m.
