Suspect in FD robbery sought by PD

Man assaulted victim before stealing money

Investigators are looking for a man who police say robbed a man after knocking him to the ground.

The incident happened Thursday night around 10:20 p.m.

Police responded to a medical call at Casey's General Store, 1320 A St. West.

When officers arrived, they began speaking to a man at the scene who told them he was walking south in the Casey's lot when he was assaulted and knocked down from behind, according to Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody.

Carmody said that after the suspect knocked the victim down, he stole a undisclosed amount of money from the man before running off. The victim said the suspect got into a red Dodge Durango with dark tinted windows.

The victim declined medical treatment.

Carmody said the suspect is a black man with a dark complexion. He's between 5 feet10 inches and 6 feet and weighs about 145 pounds.

The victim said the suspect was wearing a gold-colored coat and black shoes.

Investigators believe somebody may have witnessed the crime and can give more information about the suspect.
