To the editor:
As we graduate from the Fall Citizen's Academy Class, we would like to thank the many businesses and organizations that provided our class with delicious meals each Tuesday night as well as those that opened their locations up to us for our training and education. We have enjoyed the adventure and developing relationships with our local law enforcement as well as learning many aspects of their job and how the community can partner with them to provide a safe environment for our families. Some of the highlights we've enjoyed from this class are patrol operations, investigations, Narcotics, canine operations, the human side of law enforcement, ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children), SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) and Arson Investigation which was presented by the Fort Dodge Fire Department. We have learned our role as liaisons to communicate what we have learned with our family, friends and community members. We would like to give special thanks to Chief Tim Carmody for his exceptional leadership and patience with each and every one of us through this learning process as well as his dedication to the safety and training of our community.
Please, allow us to encourage and challenge you to attend a future class of Citizen's Academy and see how important you are as a community member to the safety of Webster County. To get information on upcoming classes, contact Chief Carmody at the Fort Dodge Law Enforcement Center.
