The King Ringers concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 21st Ave. N. There will be a freewill offering and refreshments at intermission.
The bell choir will perform Christmas favorites including "Shepherd's Hey," "While Shepherds Watched their Flocks," "How Great Our Joy," "The First Noel," and traditional Christmas carols with handbells, hand chimes, trumpet and piano.
Rounding out the concert will be "African Noel," the Hebrew Advent melody "King of Kings," and "Hanukkah, O Hanukkah."
Founded in 1997, the King Ringers community handbell ensemble currently has 13 members and several substitute ringers who rehearse on Tuesday evenings at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Their performances include classical, sacred, jazz, patriotic and popular music, as well as original compositions for handbells. They perform with five octaves of Schulmerich handbells (61 bells) and four octaves of Malmark hand chimes. Other guest vocalists, instrumental soloists, organists, pianists and/or percussionists perform with the group. The group's name is a tribute to the legendary For Dodge bandmaster/composer, Karl L. King.
