Birks leads SCC

ROCKWELL CITY - Haley Birks scored 27 points to lead the South Central Calhoun girls basketball team to a 67-38 victory over Storm Lake.

Andee Hammen added nine and Kori Assman contributed eight for the Titans (1-0).

ESTHERVILLE - The 15th-ranked (Class 2A) Manson Northwest Webster girls basketball team dropped a 65-48 decision to No. 3 (3A) Estherville-LC Tuesday night.

Ellie Herzberg posted a game-high 20 points, while Faith Troshynki and Jocelyn Keller each added nine for the Cougars.

ALGONA - The Algona girls basketball team topped Forest City Tuesday night, 52-30.

Abby Strohman had a game-high 17, while Tangy Wiseman and Rachel Teague added seven for the Bulldogs (1-0 overall).

ALGONA - The Bishop Garrigan girls used a balanced attack to defeat Clarion-Goldfield Tuesday night, 44-36.

Taylor Hovey had nine points, while Krista Condoleon and Chelsi Lanus each added eight for the Golden Bears (1-0 overall, 1-0 in NCC).

The Cowgirls (0-1, 0-1) were paced by Jossie Sann's game-high 15.

Courtney Bargman led the way for the Wolverines (1-0 overall) with a game-high 11 points.

Briley Sullivan tallied 10 points for the Chargers (0-1).
