To the editor:
This is an open letter to the management and staff at Hy-Vee and Applebee's. I was treated to a delicious dinner at Applebee's on Sunday as their way of thanking the many military veterans. I was waited on by a very attentive and competent staff who made me feel more than welcome to be there. The sirloin steak I had was done to perfection! I will be returning to your fine establishment many times in the future. I was also able to talk with fellow vets while dining which made the day special as well. Thank you Applebee's from this ol' Navy veteran!
On Veteran's Day I was treated to a delicious breakfast at Hy-Vee and again was waited on by very courteous and competant staff. I was able to sit with alot of the other vets and talk about our days in the military. It was a very fun morning that started with a very delicious breakfast and lots of coffee. My hat is off to the people at Hy-Vee for sponsoring this Veteran's Day breakfast. I'm sure I speak for all verterans in thanking you both for making us feel special on Veteran's Day!
Also, I was able to attend the (Nov. 9) performance of the Comedia Musica Players production of "Chicago". For a little over 2 hours I was taken back to prohibition-era Chicago by a highly talented group of actors and musicians. I was very impressed with the quality of the acting as well as the musical numbers by the pit orchestra. I was able to meet and greet several from the cast in the lobby after the show and congratulate them on a GREAT performance! Some, however, I missed and would like them to know that I wish I could have congratulated them personally on a great show.
For those of you that missed seeing "Chicago" you missed a terrific show! I encourage everyone to watch for the next production by Comedia Musica Players and make plans to attend you will not be disappointed by this highly talented group. Bravo Comedia Musica Players!
