Ebner, Wachter airlifted to hospitals

Two Fort Dodge men, who were initially sent to Trinity Regional Medical Center, have been airlifted to other Iowa hospitals due to the extent of their injuries.

At about 3 a.m., Fort Dodge police officers arrived at 1428 Eighth Ave. S. where they discovered Matthew Ebner, 51, shirtless and face down on the sidewalk in the front yard. Ebner had injuries to his head and torso, according to a press release provided by Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody.

At 1414 Eighth Ave. S., officers found a second man, Walter Wachter, 54, in a semiconscious state with injuries to his head and face, according to the press release.

Investigators are continuing to process evidence.
