Tompkins to teach at local studio

Paul Tompkins will begin teaching at McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts beginning in January.

Tompkins is a regular performer with the Fort Dodge Area Symphony and a violinist/guitarist with Salty View's Acoustic Review, a country-rock band.

Prior to moving to Iowa, he held positions on the music theory faculties of Oklahoma City University, the University of North Texas and the University of Oklahoma. His previous performance experience include substitute violin roles with the Enid-Phillips Symphony and Oklahoma City Philharmonic, as well as string quartet engagements and several Oklahoma City-based ensembles.

His primary instruments are the violin and guitar with secondary emphasis on piano.

McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts is owned by MaryAnn McSweeny-Buhr.
