CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Central women's basketball team stunned No. 4 (NJCAA, Div. II) Kishwaukee Friday night at the Kirkwood Classic, scoring a 52-51 victory.
The Tritons (2-1 overall) stopped a last-second scoring chance by Kishwaukee (0-3) to prevail.
Lydia Harvey, a freshman from St. Edmond, scored a team-high 10 points, while Carly McRae added nine and six rebounds.
Katie Dentlinger contributed seven points and six boards as well.
"Hopefully, we can use this game as a springboard for the rest of the season," said ICCC head coach Craig Carlson. "(Kishwaukee) was much bigger than us, as will be most teams we play this year, but we played a 2-3 zone and (Rebecca) Easton did a great job on the final play of denying them."
Babaya Oja, Theresa Doyle and Allison Seibert combined for 19 points for the Tritons.
