To the editor:
I would like to take this time to express my appreciation to the numerous volunteers that helped at the State Cross Country Meet, Oct. 27 at Lakeside Golf Course. A special thanks to members of the Fort Dodge Senior High Athletic Booster Club, FDSH coaches and FDSH students for helping with parking, selling programs, and monitoring the course. Thank you to the "Dodger Stadium crew" for painting the cross country course and many FDCSD staff members and loyal citizens for making this an amazing event to host. Your willingness to help made this event to run smoothly.
This event is contracted through our Fort Dodge Parks and Recreation Department, and without the support of Lori Branderhorst and her staff in her department this event would not take place. From set-up to the tear-down your staff was awesome to work with. The support from Lakeside Golf Course and the members of the Webster County Conservation staff allowing us to host one of the largest cross-country meets of its kind is much appreciated.
I also would like to thank the following groups from the Fort Dodge area for helping as well: Fort Dodge Police Department, Public Works, Fire Department, Webster County Sheriff's Department, Iowa Highway State Patrol, and the National Guard for being of assistance during the meet. A special thank you to the EMTs from Trinity Regional Medical Center and the athletic trainers from Highland Park for supporting the runners after each race.
Our community does a great job of hosting these major events for the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association. We could not do it without your help. I want to thank each of you for your time and energy during this event.
