To the editor:

I am writing on Helen Miller's behalf because I want the public to know what a cheerleader she is for Fort Dodge and Webster County, and indeed Iowa. Whenever she has an opportunity to speak, especially in a public setting to those who are not familiar with our county, she lets them know what a great and special place this is.

When she gave remarks after her induction into the African American Hall of Fame in August, she let the audience know that "Fort Dodge was all right with her" and should be with everyone. The comment provided one of the highlights of the evening and was very well received by those in attendance.

Her efforts in getting support in the Iowa House for the legislation that led to the development of the Gypsum City Off Highway Park are legend in the Statehouse. She called on Webster County supporters of the park to get folks to contact their representatives to encourage their support for her legislation. The House was flooded with calls and emails of support, and yes, we now have the park.

Helen is a genuine, effective, respected and experienced legislator. She is willing and able to work across party lines to effectively represent her constituents. We need her positive voice representing us in the Iowa House. Join me in casting you vote fro Helen on Tuesday.

Sandy Struecker
