To the editor:
Congressman Steve King has been named the "King of Cruelty," and it's not hard to see why. King's voting record is hard proof that he's against any protections for animals whatsoever. Just this year, King was the only Iowa member of Congress who opposed legislation making it illegal to take a child to a dog or cock fight. How can anyone in good conscience oppose such a common sense reform? But he doesn't stop there. During his time in Congress, King also voted against laws that would protect animals from being transported across state lines for animal fights, protect horses from being slaughtered for human consumption, prohibit interstate commerce in primates for the pet trade and require that pets and service animals be included in disaster planning. With one of the worst voting records on animal protection in all of Congress, the King of Cruelty has earned his crown. I won't be voting for him on Tuesday.
