Investigators are searching for three suspects who they said broke into a Fort Dodge woman's home and stole her money.

The home invasion robbery happened around 1:12 p.m. Tuesday at 1517 11th Ave. S.W.

Resident Leslie Fanning called Fort Dodge police saying three men came inside her house with guns and demanded money, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.

Fanning told officers the suspects escaped with an undetermined amount of money and escaped into the woods near her home. Carmody said Fanning was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Officers were unable to locate the three suspects, according to Carmody.

Fanning said the suspects were all younger black men who were wearing dark-colored clothing and masks. At least two of the suspects had guns, according to Carmody.

"We are hopeful that someone from our community was the area of this incident prior to (the incident), as it unfolded or immediately after," he said in a written statement.

Anybody with information on the home invasion robbery is asked to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department at 573-1426 or Crime Stoppers at 573-1444. Tips can also be sent by text message by sending "LEC" and the tip to 274637.
