To the editor:
I am sending this letter to the editor to endorse Jim Stubbs for sheriff. As a former deputy for the Webster County Sheriff's Department for over 26 years, which included 10 years as chief deputy, I worked with both Kevin Kruse and Jim Stubbs - both are good people.
Upon my retiring from the sheriff's office, I recommended that Jim Stubbs take my place as chief deputy. Due to his previous experience as chief deputy and also as a detective, and then a narcotics officer on the force, I feel that Jim Stubbs has the leadership, knowledge and the ability to lead the Sheriff's Department in the direction we need to continue to fight the war on drugs. He also has the skills to handle the day-to-day operation and responsibility of the sheriff's office, as well as the jail, which is one of the county's biggest liabilities.
I feel Jim has more experience since he has been involved in the daily office administrative duties, involving deputy shift assignments, office operations, overseeing the serving of civil papers, security of the courtroom facilities, overseeing the transporting of prisoners and issues regarding the Sheriff's Department budget.
Therefore, I ask you to join with me in voting for Jim Stubbs for sheriff of Webster County.
