ROCKWELL CITY - Vivian I. Rasmuson, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Hoover Mossman officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Logan Township Cemetery, Piper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family.
Vivian is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Meyer of Belle River, Ontario, Canada, Eileen Mannett of Sun City, AZ, and Carolyn Rasmuson of Fremont, NE; her son Donald (Mary) Rasmuson of Rockwell City; five grandchildren; brother Clarence Ekman of North Carolina; and sister Velma Knuth of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Rasmuson; daughter Jeanette Rasmuson; her parents, Nels and Selma Sandberg Ekman; two sisters; and two brothers.
Vivian Irene Ekman Rasmuson was born August 10, 1916 at Wayne, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Nebr., and graduated from the Wakefield High School. On February 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Carl E. Rasmuson at Omaha, Nebr. The couple made their home on a farm north of Piper. In 1952, they moved to a farm east of Richards. The couple farmed until retiring in 1975. In 1986 they moved into Rockwell City. Carl passed away in 1987. Vivian was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and a past member of Skaraborg Lutheran Church, Piper.
