Wilbur C. Woock, 98, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Tompkins Memorial Heath Center. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Nathan Peitsch officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Wilbur was born in Burnett, WI on September 2, 1914 to William and Lille (Zarndt) Woock. He grew up in Wisconsin and worked on the family farm. He also worked as a hired hand for other farmers in the area. He married Marie Kurth on December 31, 1950 in Lidderdale, IA and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Wilbur worked for Brooks Laundry for many years and then as the custodian for First National Bank until he retired in 1980. Over the years he was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Deer Creek Township and then St. Paul Lutheran Church. He loved making cookies, ice cream and wine. He also enjoyed walking and was a master gardener and took great pride in his lawn.
Wilbur is survived by his wife Marie; children Dale (Donna) Woock of Elgin, IL and Dallas (Lori) Woock of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Emily, Kurt, Alicia, Jared, Sarah (Mark), Casey, Nate and Chase. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Kurt and his siblings Art, Edna, Ethel and Willard
