OTHO - Harold F. Herrington, 82, of Otho, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.
A service honoring Harold's life will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Otho Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the V.F.W. Post No. 1856. The visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
Harold is survived by his wife Marjorie (Marge) Herrington, Otho; daughters, Kay (Roger) Kruger, Nancy (Martin) Brown, Cathy Herrington, Debra (Robert) Hoffner, Sheri Ault, Marsha Garrett and Paula (Dana) Ayala; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna Lorraine Merrill.

HAROLD F. HERRINGTON
Harold Franklin Herrington, the son of Elmer and Gladys (Stringer) Herrington, was born April 26, 1930 in Lehigh, Iowa. He graduated from Lehigh High School in 1948. Harold entered into the United States Air Force in 1948. On February 21, 1950, Harold was united in marriage to Marjorie Smith at Spokane, Washington. Harold worked on B-29 airplanes during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. Following his discharge in 1952, Harold and Marge lived in Fort Dodge until moving to Otho in 1961 where they had since lived. Harold retired from Georgia Pacific after nearly 37 years of service to the company.
Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing and was active during his life time in shooting competition for which he received many awards. He spent time in his garden and loved to ride his three-wheel bicycle throughout Otho. Harold also enjoyed working on projects in his garage.
