Think Pink Night featured a dominant performance by the Iowa Central volleyball team on Monday.
Pushing their match winning streak to six straight, the 15th-ranked (NJCAA Div. II) Tritons (22-8 overall) swept away Ellsworth in three games at Hodges Fieldhouse.
Scores were 25-12, 25-8 and 25-15.
"I was happy with how we executed on our side of the net," ICCC first-year head coach Fredrick Wagner said. "I thought the second set was probably as good as we've played all year. We only had three errors, and two of those were hitting."
Nadia Morneau, a 5-foot-7 sophomore outside hitter, collected 13 kills on the evening for the Tritons, while 2011 first-team All-American Alicia Moreno posted 11 kills.
Sophomore middle blocker Brittany Vaske (Algona) also delivered six kills and three of Iowa Central's eight total blocks.
"I thought (former Bishop Garrigan prep) Shelby Schindler did a nice job in the middle for us (Monday), which allowed Nadia to capitalize as a result," said Wagner. "(Fort Dodge Senior High graduate) Marisa Gibson came in and put on a show at the end as well, with two aces to finish (the victory) off."
In Game 1, Iowa Central controlled play from start to finish after reeling off the first three points. With all the momentum in their favor, the Tritons quickly jumped out to a 12-2 advantage in the second set and were never seriously challenged by the Panthers (16-14).
Ellsworth's lone lead of the entire match was a brief 3-2 edge in the finale. Iowa Central then responded with a pivotal 9-1 run to eventually pull away down the stretch.
"We're not a big team compared to some of the bigger competition we face, so we have to be defensively strong," said Wagner, whose squad also swept the Panthers in their previous encounter this season. "We have a simple philosophy of 'get it up, take a shot and put it over."
Next action for the Tritons is Wednesday when they welcome North Iowa Area (7-14, 1-2) for an ICCAC matchup. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
