It's all a learning process right now for the Fort Dodge girls cross country team.

With five Class 4A ranked programs in attendance, the Dodgers saw some of the top teams in the state up close on Thursday at the Fort Dodge Invitational.

Urbandale, rated sixth in 4A, pulled out the overall title, ending Waukee's reign on top.

The No. 12 Warriors were second, followed by Valley, No. 13 Roosevelt and 10th-ranked Ames.

The Dodgers placed 11th.

"We are just going to continue to work on improving as a collective unit," FDSH head coach Tim Hanson said. "This was a stacked field - even deeper than the boys this year - but our girls went out there and competed as best they could.
