West Bend-Mallard rolls

CORWITH - The West Bend-Mallard football team rolled to a 62-28 victory over Corwith-CWL Friday night.

Jesse Zinnel had 120 yards passing on 6 of 10, including a touchdown to Jason Zinnel. Jesse also had 69 yards rushing and a score.

Dan Eubank had two touchdowns on the ground and a blocked punt returned for a score, while Davey Jergens had a rushing TD, 89 yards and a punt return for six.

Nate Grimm added the other touchdown for the Wolverines (4-3 overall, 3-1 in 8-man, District 2).

Cougars clip Sioux Central

SIOUX RAPIDS - The Manson Northwest Webster football team used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Sioux Central Friday night, 30-26.

Alex Bush was 9-for-15 for 142 yards and three touchdowns, while Brennan Thompson finished with 23 carries for 143 yards and a score.

Bush found Caleb Wubben twice for touchdowns to lead the Cougars (3-3 overall, 2-1 in 1A, District 2). He also connected with Brody Eischeid.

Josh Markert had four catches for 90 yards for Manson NW.

Bush also booted a 37-yard field goal.

Gordon, PV run over B-K

GOWRIE - Mason Gordon and the rest of the Prairie Valley backfield carried the Warriors over Belmond-Klemme Friday night, 36-13.

Gordon had 27 carries for 200 yards and a score, while Austin Promes added 91 yards on nine carries and two scores.

Brandon Ure finished with another 86 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Warriors (4-2 overall, 3-1 in A, District 2).

Ryan True had four completions for 128 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown pass to Austin Ward.

No. 6 E-Hawks roll again

EMMETSBURG - The sixth-ranked (Class 1A) Emmetsburg football team claimed a convincing 40-7 victory over Hull Western Christian Friday night.

Andrew Wellik led the E-Hawks (5-1 overall, 3-0 in 1A, District 1) with 18 carries for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Wellik had a 69-yard TD jaunt.

Jake Jackson also scored two touchdowns for Emmetsburg.

No. 1 Mustangs improve to 6-0

NEWELL - Newell-Fonda had no trouble in its first game as No. 1 (8-man), rolling past Graettinger-Terril, 69-8, Friday night.

Jonathan Johnson led the Mustangs (6-0 overall, 4-0 in A, District 2) with 129 yards rushing and four total touchdowns.

Zak Sievers was 6 of 7 passing for 76 yards, including a TD pass to Johnson.

Rigo Johnson paced the Newell-Fonda defense with 12 tackles.

Bulldogs pound Charles City, 27-6

ALGONA - The Algona football team earned a 27-6 victory over Charles City Friday night.

Weston Shaw was 10-for-15 passing for 150 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (3-3 overall, 2-2 in 3A, District 3). Shaw connected with Justin Raymond three times for 62 yards, and found Michael Van Oosbree for a 7-yard touchdown.

Sawyer Frideres had 62 yards rushing and two scores.

Wildcats cash in on W-SR mistakes

WAVERLY - The Humboldt football team took advantage of six Waverly-Shell Rock turnovers, earning a 28-14 victory Friday night.

Brady Ross carried the offensive load, rushing the ball 26 times for 154 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the Wildcat (3-3 overall, 3-1 in 3A, District 3) defense in tackles.

Tyler Zaugg added a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, while Cody Weisbrich collected two fumble recoveries.

Nikko Wheeler chipped in 54 yards rushing.

Garrigan tops SW-G

BURNSIDE - The Bishop Garrigan football team cruised to a 34-14 victory over Southeast Webster-Grand Friday night.

For the Eagles (2-4, 0-4), Nolan Mitchell had six catches for 167 yards. Lucas Burns added 67 yards rushing.

Lynx dealt first district loss

WEBSTER CITY - The Webster City football team was handed their first district loss of the season, falling to Clear Lake Friday night, 24-7.

The Lynx (4-2 overall, 3-1 in 3A, District 3) were unable to hand the Lions (4-2, 2-1) their second consecutive district loss for the first time since 1997.

Alex Oswald connected with Boone Myers for the lone Webster City touchdown, as Oswald found Myers in the second quarter from five yards out.

Nelson Ball had 12 tackles to lead the Lynx defense.

Titans lose by two

FOREST CITY - South Central Calhoun lost a tight 14-12 decision to Forest City on Friday night.

The Titans (3-3 overall, 1-2 district) scored two touchdowns. Kyler Case had a one-yard score.

Jake Petzenhauser threw a six-yard scoring strike to Case.

Tanner Toms led the rushing attack with 48 yards and Case had 35.

Petzenhauser was 6 of 10 for 66 yards passing. He also had 10 tackles and an interception.

Cody Schoop had 12 tackles.

Johnson has big night in loss

EAGLE GROVE - Brandon Johnson had another strong night for Eagle Grove in a losing effort.

The Eagles (0-6 overall, 0-4 in district) lost 39-26 to West Fork (2-4, 1-2).

Johnson had 186 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries. He scored from 66, 63, 8 and 5 yards out.

Miguel Pacheco had 77 yards rushing.

West Fork's Spencer Halloran had 343 yards rushing in the win.
