At 2:03 a.m. on Sunday, a single vehicle fatality collision occurred on Calhoun County Road D11 west of Pomeroy in far northern Calhoun County. A 1998 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Nicholas Charles Holtapp, 29, of Pomeroy was westbound on D11. The vehicle crossed the center line and began to enter the south ditch. The vehicle then swerved back across the roadway and overturned in the north ditch. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.
