Wade Wheat, 38, of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Fort Dodge passed away on Monday September 10, 2012 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday September 17th at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Survivors include his significant other Jeni Holm of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Sadie Jean Anderson of Fort Dodge; mother, Martha Wheat of Fort Dodge; father, William "Dave" McCaleb of Fort Dodge; sister, Brittany McCaleb of Fort Dodge; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dee and Clemmie McCaleb, and John and Calivina Wheat.
Wade Allan Wheat was born on October 19, 1973 in Fort Dodge. In 1992, Wade graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School as a standout basketball player; he helped take the Dodgers to the State Tournament despite a losing record in the 1991 season. He then attended Indian Hills Community College helping the team reach the NJCAA National Tournament. Wade loved to live life to the fullest and will be remembered for his playfulness, laughter and amazing smile. He was passionate about all sports, most recently enjoying the game of golf. Wade was an assistant teacher at the Odyssey Academy Middle School in Minneapolis, MN, before having to resign in order to take care of his health. Wade never let his cancer bring his spirit or attitude down and he was always positive and hopeful. He loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
