ALGONA- The Algona volleyball team outlasted St. Edmond in five North Central Conference games Tuesday night.
Scores were 25-19, 22-25, 17-25, 25-23 and 15-6 in favor of the Bulldogs (9-8 overall, 1-1 NCC).
Reba Zeller finished 31-for-32 serving with 25 assists and three aces for Algona.
Amber Lenz also went 19 of 20 on serves with 12 digs for the Bulldogs, while Rachel Teague was a perfect 17-for-17 behind the service line with 15 digs.
Ali Grein chipped in 13 kills, eight digs, six blocks, three aces and was 18 of 21 serving.
For the Gaels (5-10, 0-2), Claire Crimmins and Molly Doster were both 100 percent serving.
Skylar Berdaus notched 18 digs as well for St. Edmond, which tallied 11 blocks as a team.
"We played almost four amazing games, but then we got a little tentative and weren't nearly as aggressive as (the Bulldogs)," said SEHS head coach John Johnson. "Once they started to rally, it took all the wind out of our sails, and we're not the type of team that can bounce back from that. I was really proud of our effort, but we have to do a better job of closing teams out. We've been really concentrating on just getting out (on the court) and playing hard."
St. Edmond plays Eagle Grove (5-12, 0-2) on Thursday.
