STORM LAKE - The Fort Dodge boys and girls cross country teams were in action at the Storm Lake Invitational on Tuesday.
The Dodger boys captured top honors with 83 points, followed by Algona (105) and SC East (108).
Alex Jackson anchored FDSH with a third-place individual showing, clocking a time of 17:16. Thomas Thompson (17:21), Nic Ganzeveld (13th, 17:58), Tanner Smith (22nd, 18:30), Austin Read (45th, 19:07), Devon Schuster (56th, 19:33) and Seth Dolan (74th, 20:23) were the other Dodger runners.
"I definitely liked what I saw from our top three of Alex, Thomas and Nic," said FDSH head coach Tim Hanson. "We still have to work on our No. 4 and 5 runners closing the gap a little more, but I was proud of how our guys competed."
On the girls side, the Dodgers finished eighth. Madison Bodholdt (22nd, 17:36), Sydney Crotts (39th, 18:17), Sarah Rethwisch (49th, 18:41), Bryanne Kasperbauer (60th, 19:25), Amberly Habhab (73rd, 20:07), Becca Sunken (74th, 20:21) and Katrina Olson (76th, 20:27) each participated for Fort Dodge.
"It was pretty windy and a little warm, but I thought everybody ran pretty well on the girls side," Hanson said. "This (Storm Lake Invitational) was a good low-key meet for us to run against some different competition than what we're used to seeing."
Next outing for the Dodgers is Monday at the Humboldt Invitational.
