Mike Staton is one of the recipients of the September Employee Spotlight Award at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. This monthly award was established to recognize individuals who have performed outstanding work, demonstrated a commitment to a team atmosphere, participated in a major accomplishment or are/were involved in a project or event in the operation of the facility or in the community.
Staton began his career with the Department of Corrections on Sept. 28, 1990, and has held various position including counselor, assistant unit manager and training specialist. Recently, Staton traveled to Minnesota to provide training on the Mental Health Re Entry program. He also spends three days per month providing such training at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale.
