BANCROFT - Funeral Mass for Glenda Kollasch, 77, of Bancroft will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM today (Friday) at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft with a rosary beginning at 4 PM and a scripture prayer service beginning at 7:30 PM.

Glenda Rae (Black) Kollasch was born to Glenn and Ida Belle (Felter) Black on June 2, 1935, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She and her family moved to Burt, in 1935 where she graduated from Burt High School in 1953. She attended AIB in Des Moines, and returned to Algona. Glenda was united in marriage to James Kollasch on February 8, 1958, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. They had six children.

Glenda and Jim farmed in the Ledyard area and in 1982 moved to their current farm near Bancroft. Glenda also worked as church secretary at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard, until moving to Bancroft and was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church. She also enjoyed working at Country Peddler and McNertney Law Office.

Glenda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to taking care of her family and farming with her husband. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, baking, shopping, gardening, traveling and dancing the jitterbug with her husband, and being involved with her children and grandchildren. Glenda's strong faith, loving actions, and cheerful smile have been an inspiration to us all.

Glenda peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 05, 2012 after a courageous two-year battle with leukemia/myelodysplastic syndrome. She was 77.

Glenda is survived by her husband Jim of Bancroft: three daughters, Jean (Mike) Doyle of Fort Dodge, Angie (Brian) McGill of Stewartville, MN, and Lisa (Randy) O'Tool of Mason City; three sons, Randy (Angie) Kollasch of Swea City, Mark Kollasch of Bancroft, and Steve Kollasch of Bancroft; 20 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her mother, Ida Belle Black of Algona; two sisters, Janet (DeWayne) Gebken of Madison, WI, and Caryle (Marv) Lallier of Algona; one brother, Doug (Kris) Black of Eden Prairie, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Black.
