The Fort Dodge Area Symphony will hold auditions for vocal soloists to perform at its Dec. 2 performance of Handel's "Messiah."
Auditions will be from 6:15 to 6:45 Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 at Phillips Middle School Auditorium, 1015 Fifth Ave. N., Fort Dodge. A soprano, alto, tenor and bass are needed. Anyone interested should contact 573-4224 for more information.
Selected soloists will perform multiple arias and must be available for one Monday evening rehearsal, a dress rehearsal on Dec. 1 and the concert on Dec. 2.
For auditions, soloists should have the following pieces from the "Messiah" prepared as audition material: Soprano, No. 18 - "Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion;" Alto, No. 8 - "Behold, a Virgin Shall Conceive" and No. 9 - "O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings;" Tenor, No. 42 - "He That Dwelleth in Heaven" and No. 43 - "Thou Shalt Break Them;" Bass, No. 5 - "Thus Saith The Lord." No accompanist will be provided.
The concert will be a community sing-along, with the audience joining in singing Christmas choruses.
