To the editor:
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This last Monday made it clear to me what that means. Both sides say that they want to help the middle class. But this last Monday should show you who actually means it.
Normally I don't watch the local news on television I get my news by reading The Messenger and the Register. But last Monday I watched local 5, 8 and 13 news. They showed both President Obama and Congressman Ryan at the State Fair.
President Obama stopped and talked to Iowans, shook hands, posed for pictures and even had a beer with a Republican. Congressman Ryan spoke at the fair then when he left he had Gov. Branstad on one side and Sen. Grassley on the other side, making sure no Iowans could get close to him.
Actions speak louder than words.
Who do you think is actually thinking of the middle class?
