Dan Alstott, manager of Decker Truck Line’s graphic shop, stands in front of the recently completed trailer he designed for New Belgium Brewing. The trailer will be loaded and shipped off from Fort Dodge today.
“In 20 years, I’ve never done a roof before,” Alstott said. “Now I know what a catcher feels like — on your knees the whole time.”
The sides and roof of the trailer each require 12 printed vinyl panels 54 inches wide. Alstott said he took about a week just printing them out.
The trailer was designed for use in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, a seven-day bicycle race through the Rocky Mountains in Colorado that covers 683 miles total and 42,000 combined feet of elevation gain. New Belgium Brewing is an official sponsor of the race.
The race will appear on NBC Sports, and Alstott said the cameras would likely record the trailer as well. He said the roof, which depicts a beer bottle the length of the trailer, would be visible from helicopters getting an aerial view.
