An early afternoon armed robbery in downtown Fort Dodge has police looking for two suspects.

The Monterrey Mexican Store, 1214 Central Ave., was robbed at 2:11 p.m. Thursday, Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody said in a press release.

The two suspects, both armed with handguns, demanded money from the clerk. After taking an undetermined amount of money, the suspects fled on foot heading eastbound, according to Carmody.

Officers were on the scene within two minutes of the robbery. In addition to interviewing the clerk and possible witnesses, they searched the area for the suspects.

One suspect is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall with an average build. The other is described as a slender black man who is about 6 feet tall.

Both suspects wore hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up during the robbery, according to Carmody.

According to scanner traffic, both robbers were wearing bandannas and one's sweatshirt was red.

Carmody said no one was hurt.

He said the Fort Dodge police want anyone who witnessed the robbery or who may have seen the suspects fleeing the scene to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department at 573-1426.
