SIOUX CITY -Three men with connections to Webster County were sentenced in federal court in Sioux City last week after pleading guilty to various drug charges.
Bruce Armstrong, 47, of Fort Dodge, received 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, one count of distributing meth and one count of possessing firearms in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Armstrong admitted from January to May 2011 he was involved in a conspiracy that distributed more than 50 grams of meth in the Fort Dodge area. During his plea, Armstrong admitted he had four different guns, which included two handguns that he used in his conspiracy.
Rex Silvey, 55, of Dayton, received three years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture meth. He admitted he planned to create more than 5 grams of meth between December 2009 and July 2011.
Carlos Zamudio-Hernandez, 30, of Riverside, Calif., received 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute meth and distribution of meth. Zamudio-Hernandez said he transported meth from California to Fort Dodge at least three times. He was arrested in Omaha, Neb., in Dec. 2011.
All three men remain in the custody of the United States marshals until they can be moved to prison.
Man facing arson, meth charges
A man who was injured in a fire back in March is now facing drug charges in connection with that case.
Dale A. Kuzmicki, 46, has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and first-degree arson.
It's alleged that on March 2, Kuzmicki and another person were planning on creating meth in a Fort Dodge apartment at 1310 Second Ave. S. During the process, the apartment caught fire, and Kuzmicki was burned in the incident.
Kuzmicki is accused of planning to create more than 5 grams of meth.
At his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday, Magistrate William Habhab ordered Kuzmicki held on $125,000 bond, and set his preliminary hearing for July 11.
