WAUKEE - The Fort Dodge softball team out hit ninth-ranked Waukee in its opener, but the Warriors used their power to get by the Dodgers here on Thursday night.
FDSH (17-19 overall, 6-12 CIML Iowa Conference) dropped a tight 3-1 decision in the opener, and Waukee (28-6, 17-1) pounded out 10 hits, including three home runs, for a six inning 10-0 victory in the nightcap.
"In the first game we played well, but we need to take more advantages to score,'' FDSH head coach Andi Adams said. "Mallory (Kilian)?pitched well, but they did enough offensively and we couldn't muster much of anything."
In the first contest, the Dodgers had six hits compared to four for Waukee, but Warrior Callie Feaker had a two-run home run.
Emily Grell was 2-for-2 for the Dodgers and Maddie Egli had a triple.
In the second contest, Feaker remained hot, hitting two more home runs and driving in five runs for Waukee.
