Man allegedly steals car, assaults woman
A Fort Dodge man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman and taking her car.
Jerone Jones, 29, of Des Moines, is accused of stealing the woman's car from the Hy-Vee parking lot while she was inside the store. The same day as the alleged theft, Jones is accused of slapping the woman, giving her a black eye and cuts near her eye.
The alleged crimes happened on Feb. 26.
Jones made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
District Associate Court Judge Angela Doyle, who was presiding over Magistrate Court on Wednesday, ordered Jones held on $5,000 bond on the second-degree theft charge, and $1,000 bond on the serious assault charge.
His preliminary hearing is set for July 6.
Bode man charged with OWI after chase
BODE - A man is facing felony charges after police say he led them on a chase through three counties.
Around 12:46 a.m. on Sunday, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle for a minor traffic violation, according to a press release from the Palo Alto County sheriff's office.
When deputies tried to get the vehicle stopped at the corner of Third Street Southeast and Iowa Highway 15 in West Bend, it kept going.
The suspect, who deputies identified as Bryce J. Jenson, 21, of Bode, led officers on a 20-minute chase through Palo Alto, Kossuth and Humboldt counties, according to the press release.
Deputies were able to stop Jenson on Hawaii Avenue, just west of Bode.
He was charged with felony eluding and operating while intoxicated, first offense.
Jenson is being held in the Palo Alto County Jail awaiting his initial appearance on July 12.
