Fire causes smoke damage, no injuries

Nobody was injured Monday afternoon after a small fire began in a Fort Dodge home.

The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. at 214 N. 16th St.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Woody Wolfe, the fire was caused by burning grease on a stove inside the home, which he said belonged to April King.

Wolfe said the fire caused smoke damage in the house, but nobody was injured.

He said King was able to put out most of the fire herself with an extinguisher. The Fort Dodge Fire Department extinguished the rest of the fire, and used a fan to clear out any remaining smoke.

An ambulance from Trinity Regional Medical Center and the Fort Dodge Police Department also responded to the scene.
