The Rev. Matthew Martens of Grace Lutheran Church, left, recently presented a check of $1,000 to Mary Ohrtman, outreach director for Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc. In addition to support for UDMO, the congregation raised $1,000 in Lenten mission support for each of these local agencies: YWCA Women’s Halfway House, Beacon of Hope Men’s Shelter, and Salvation Army Transient Fund. The congregation also raised $1,000 for supporting those recovering from flood damage in western Iowa and $1,000 for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.
