Phillips — 80 years old

OTHO — Don G. Phillips, Otho, will celebrate his 80th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. May 20 at the Otho Community Center, 220 Rake St., Otho.
His family includes wife, Mary Ellen; Mike and Theresa Phillips, of Otho; Theresa and Leo Kapler, of St. Paul, Minn.; Mary and Dave Benson, of Forney, Texas; and Mark and Linda Phillips, of McCaskill, Ark. He has six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. One granddaughter is deceased.
Phillips was born May 18, 1932, in Coalville. He married Mary Ellen Brown in 1953. He started working at the Bestwall Certainteed plant (now Georgia Pacific) in 1950 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and serving for four years. He then returned to Georgia Pacific, retiring after 44 years of service.
